"ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE"
Do you feel frustrated when you hear this?
Does it wake you out of your slumber when it appears in the midst of a speech?
Does it make you violent?

Well, it bugs me extremely!!!

Can someone kindly tell me what exactly can be considered rocket science?

Thankfully, at least Google believes there is a difference - pops 6,620 sites for "its not rocket science" and 491,000 for "rocket science" (even if you account for the fact that the former is a subset of the latter, it does imply a larger no. of the latter)

Actually I will tell you what other word makes me laugh, laugh more than this rocket science thing, more annoying than this.

"Superpower" and the Indian media's fascination to that word!

Hate to post but had to comment: why do people esp from India understand English idioms or popular idioms so literally. same goes for indian speech. Such "popular phrases" very precisely communicate "something" in some english speaking cultures, and therefore are important as part of popular language.
